2025 Jeep Meridian first look: SUV gets a new entry-trim and more tech

The Jeep Meridian has been on sale for a couple of years, and despite being a very capable SUV with more than enough going for it including the sought after Jeep badge, it hasn’t had an immense success in sales. This is owing to many reasons including its rivalry with the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Skoda Kodiaq. However, Jeep has decided to address its weaknesses with a minor update for the SUV which includes minor changes to the interior, and a major overhaul of its variants which now includes the Longitude trim, with prices starting an extremely attractive Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The addition of the Longitude trim with its lower price tag, which is lesser by almost Rs 6 lakh compared to the Limited, which was the entry-level trim earlier is perhaps the most important part of the 2025 Jeep Meridian update. Which means that the Meridian now encroaches onto the territory of certain other SUVs, especially the Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio-N, Thar Roxx, the Tata Safari, and even its smaller sibling the Jeep Compass.

The Longitude trim gets the same layout, but with some features missing, compared to the higher trim levels.

Visually the Longitude has the same dimensions, which are very impressive, especially the high mounted lights at the rear, which really gives it a commanding road presence. However, the base Longitude is offered only with five seats, which means that it has a cavernous boot, 670-litres to be exact. But it would’ve felt nice, if Jeep had addressed the problems of the fixed bench seat. But everything else is all perfect, it gets a grey/white interior which is clean and a free-standing infotainment display. I personally am a fan of Jeep’s analogue dials and MID, they look premium and proper, and very cool.

What makes the Longitude feel so able and an easy option to recommend is because it doesn’t miss out on much. It gets LED headlamps, 6-airbags, 18-inch alloys, and all the space that a family of four or five can ever need. And to cater to those customers who do need the third-row get the Longitude Plus trim which also gets a panoramic sunroof, and extra seats.

The top-spec Jeep Meridian Overland has also been given an update. This mainly includes the new colours for trim and upholstery including a suede fabric on the dash and door panels. The only visible change on the exterior is the new ORVM, which houses sensors and the camera for the new ADAS.

The Meridian has now become the latest car on the market to feature an ADAS suite, including what Jeep calls Traffic Sign recognition, that can read the speed limits and slow the car down on its own, if the setting is switched on. It gets all the regular ADAS stuff such as lane keep, active cruise control etc. The rest of the package is the same as before, of course, it gets a digital instrument panel, ventilated seats, electrically adjustable seats, multi-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, and more.
Jeep has made incremental changes to the Meridian, which ought to help it gain a larger share of the market, especially now that it is available both as a five and seven seater.
